THE  BATTLE OF PICHINCHA

Date of celebration in Ecuador:

The Battle of Pichincha is celebrated on May 24. The same happened in 1822, was the battle of liberation from Spanish rule. A historic moment for the republic of Ecuador. History points to Marshal Antonio Jose de Sucre as the great manager of the Battle of Pichincha that led to a process of independence that materialize after the August 10 Independence of Ecuador.

On May 25, Sucre entered with his army to Quito where he announced the surrender of the Spanish troops established in the territory that the government of Colombia called "Department of Quito", considering it as an integral part of the Republic of Colombia since its inception, the December 17, 1819.

Origin:

May 24 is considered a civic date of the heroes who gave their lives for freedom. With the Battle of Pichincha, Ecuador political independence that marked the beginning of the Republican and independent life of Ecuador was sealed.

As this celebration there were more battles waged by a people such as the independence of the United States with the only difference that in the battle of Pichincha was the liberation from Spanish rule and in the US the release of the British Empire.

Independence of the United States:

It was conducted in 1776. This day marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 in which the country proclaimed its formal separation of the empire. It is usually celebrated with many outdoor activities such as parades, baseball games and fireworks. 

It is the traditional date of several motorsports, including the Firecracker 400 NASCAR Cup Series at Daytona, the Grand Prix of Cleveland Champ Car and the Watkins Glen Grand Prix IndyCar Series series.

A comparison of the celebration in Ecuador, in which only the historical fact with civicrepresentations and marches in the United States commemorates the celebration isvery different which is very colorful with dances, parades, fireworks and countlessactivities.
